What is a sorbet?

Sorbet is It is a non-fat frozen dessert, made with sweetened ice and no dairy; it is similar to Water Ices but made with real fruit instead of imitation flavoring. Often, wine or liquor is added to prevent its freezing solid. Sorbet is commonly churned but it can easily be made without an ice cream maker with a powerful blender.

There are different ways to make sorbets at home. The main ingredient is the fruit. You can either use fresh fruit that you freeze for at least 8 hours or your favorite brand of frozen fruit. Blend the frozen fruit with sugar in the blender and serve immediately after for a freshly made iced dessert.

If you decide to freeze, you need to stir the mixture every twenty minutes until a finely crushed ice texture is achieved. You can also make sorbet by boiling crushed fruit and sugar to create a syrup. After letting the syrup to naturally cool down at room temperature, stir it in fruit juice, then place it in the freezer and stir the mixture as before. You can also add liquor or wine for a more grown-up flavor!
