Spiral Baked Potatoes
Looking for a fun new way to serve up a simple baked potato? Why not try these viral spiral baked potatoes! They are just as much fun to eat as they look, and truly appreciated by both young and old!
Sticking the potato on a skewer and cutting it spiralized allows for all the seasonings to coat even the inner layers of the potatoes. As the potatoes bake, the edges turn a beautiful crispy golden brown while the insides stay soft and creamy. You can pretty much season these with any flavours you and your family enjoy, but for this recipe, I kept the seasonings very basic. Sometimes less is more, and in this case it was!
Begin by washing, peeling and drying 6 russet potatoes. You can also leave the skins on, but my family prefers the potatoes peeled. Carefully stick each potato onto a skewer. Using a sharp knife, slice through the potato in a downward spiral starting at the top and working all the way down. You don't need to worry about slicing all the way through as the skewer will prevent that from happening.
Pour the melted butter mixture over the potatoes, making sure they are evenly covered, especially the spaces in between the potatoes. Bake in a preheated 400-degree oven for 20 minutes, flip and continue to bake for an additional 20 minutes.
And there you have some gorgeous crispy golden potatoes that taste as good as they look!
Serve them up as is with a squirt of lemon, or drizzle on some classic baked potato toppings like sour cream and bacon and enjoy them that way.
These baked spiral potatoes are a perfect side with dinner or a fun way to serve at your next summer BBQ.
Enjoy!
